We have witnessed over the years while conservative evangelical congregations turned the Jesus we learned about into the complete reverse of who we understood him to be. Fundamentally, they transformed an image of love into a symbol of hate who blesses exactly the harshness that he condemned in scripture; this has happened at a slower pace, across decades rather than months, yet it remains unsettling through similar means, a bewildering emotional blow for many of us.

A Harmful Christianity Establishes Itself

So let me first describe the Jesus from my upbringing, as conceptually Jesus is the center of Christian religion, and since the fastest-growing cadre within America may possess limited understanding regarding him because they identify as non-believers or agnostics or spiritual independents. I take no issue with these various perspectives, nor with any other faith; yet I maintain that contain precious wisdom of significant worth in the Christian story.

So I have been inspired to witness the steadfast resistance regarding Trump emerge during the previous year.
